The Director of HOM in conjunction with the Segment and corporate leadership has responsibility for the continued development, promotion and strategically aligned implementation of the company’s business model designed to drive world-class results in customer satisfaction, quality, on-time delivery, customer-value, organic growth, and ultimately operating financial performance. This candidate will provide the thought leadership, strategic direction, and tactical implementation leadership and support for the development and advancement of HOM across Segment.

Success in the role is tied directly to effectiveness of HOM implementation and business operating performance:

  • Self-sustaining HOM application and outcomes
  • Appropriate HOM metrics and tracking
  • Development of HOM toolkit capability within Segment

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Drives a robust process and mindset around root cause and countermeasure problem solving in support of meeting company objectives.
  • Develops and leads Segment kaizen roadmap in support of Segment’s overall strategy.
  • Executes Lean continuous improvement initiatives to improve on-time delivery, cost, quality and safety through the deployment of VSM, standard work, pull systems, SMED, transactional process improvement, etc.
  • Ensures the deployment and develop/train capability in the use of the appropriate HOM lean and growth tools.
  • Develops and leads growth continuous improvement initiatives through the deployment of VOC, value selling, sales funnel management, value pricing, PLCM, rapid innovation, etc.
  • Ensures that a depth of high-quality manufacturing talent exists throughout.
  • Assists in selecting, developing, leading and coaching the team with the goal of meeting/exceeding targeted goals. 
  • Partners with HR to develop on-boarding materials, training, and rotational programs.
  • Partner with Senior VP of Sales and HOM and function heads to build and maintain a culture of continuous operational improvement that permeates all areas of the company.
  • Coach/develop site functional leaders and their staffs to identify, understand and implement lean manufacturing and growth best practices and achieve continuously improving levels of safety, quality, delivery, inventory, cost, innovation and growth.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position may or may not have any direct supervisory responsibilities.


Skills/Experience
  • Ability to design, develop and execute lean business system roadmaps for Segment
  • Demonstrated knowledge leading multiple complex projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrated knowledge of, and familiarity with, a variety of TPS/Lean Sigma tools including but are not limited   to:   VSM,   Standard   Work,   Pull   Systems   &   Kanban,   SIOP,   Daily   Management,  5S/Visual Management, 3P, SMED, TPM, Transactional Process Improvement, Variation Reduction Kaizen & Six Sigma, etc…. Black Belt certification is desirable but not required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of, and familiarity with, a variety of Growth tools including but are not limited to: VOC, Sales Funnel, Value Selling, Value Pricing, Advanced New Product Introduction, Product Life- Cycle Management, etc.
Education

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Engineering or related science from a college or university; 1-3 years of leadership experience; and 4 to 7 years related functional experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Advanced degree in Manufacturing/Engineering or an MBA is a distinct advantage


Computer Skills

Intermediate Microsoft Office required


Travel

Employee must be able to travel 30% of the time both domestically and internationally
