Position Summary

The Materials Supervisor located in Manchester, TN will manage the flow of purchased materials and work in process to support operations.  Maintain control of the inventory from the supplier's dock to our production lines by performing the following duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
  • Plan orders for production components ensuring that parts are received in the quantity required, when they are needed.
  • Investigate and identify the root cause of materials shortages and work with appropriate associates and suppliers to implement countermeasures.
  • Create and maintain PFEPs including raw materials, work-in-process, and indirect production materials.
  • Implement and utilize kanban systems.
  • Reduce number of days of inventory on hand by applying lean practices such as reducing lot sizes and increasing replenishment frequency.
  • Identify and implement process improvement opportunities to achieve key metrics.
  • Supervise direct reports according to company policies/practices, including completing APAs for all direct reports.
  • Lead and mentor material schedulers on techniques and best practices associated with inventory control and resource management, including pull systems, lean practices, and problem solving to identify opportunities for improvement. Maintain JD Edwards integrity of parts for the Doll Plant.
  • Coordinate the PFC process by tracking, communicating, and verifying the accuracy of proposed material changes that impact all Batesville Operations.
  • Monitor non-standard component part usage.
  • Execute cycle counts as prescribed by corporate schedules.  Remove all obsolete parts from cycle counts and work with material planners and appropriate managers to improve/resolve part issues.  Research all cycle count variances and identify and resolve waste and bill of material inaccuracies.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance to the Company policies, the Code of Ethical Business Conduct and applicable laws.
 
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
 
Travel

Travel is not required.
 
Education

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent from a college or university in Supply Chain; and two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience with an emphasis in supply chain and materials management.

Preferred Skills
  • Lean Manufacturing experience
  • Demonstrated ability to turn data into insight
  • Strong computer skills including: Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with JD Edwards software suite
  • Supervisor experience or 4+ years material scheduling experience
