Job Requirements:
- Education: High school diploma or GED and 3 years related experience.
- Experience: 3-5 years weld shop experience
- Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.
- Reasoning Ability: Use of judgment to plan, perform and make decisions as to the sequence of set-ups, operations and processes within the limitations of recognized or standard methods and procedures.
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Some knowledge of welding principles and methods
- Some knowledge of the heating properties of parent metals and alloys
- Skill in the operation of welding equipment and tools
- Ability to follow oral or written directions
- Ability to work from simple sketches or drawings
- Ability to produce replacements for broken metal items
- GEC certified welder to AWS D1.1
- Ability to drive a forklift safely and efficiently and pass forklift certification and driving test
- Ability to operate overhead and jib cranes safely with adequate training
