TerraSource Global  is seeking a Machining  Manager at our Belleville, IL Facility to join our Team! The facility is located a mere 17 minutes from downtown St. Louis.

Position Summary

Leadership and oversight for the assigned department.  Provides technical assistance and training to employees, assists in coordinating production schedules and activities, and maintains a safe work environment.  Drives excellence in first time quality and operational effectiveness for the department via application of continuous improvement tools and methods.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Oversee and ensure that all safety rules are being followed at all times.
  • Champion Managing Daily Improvement (MDI) processes and other continuous improvement efforts.
  • Supports, develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods for machining operations.
  • Develops Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions for all aspects of machining from workflow routing to program development and posting thru machining execution to implement industry best practices in a job-shop environment.
  • Plans and specifies tooling requirements for production, including jigs and fixtures or special cutting tools.
  • Ensures machine processes are running at optimum efficiency with correct speeds and feeds and minimizing setup/fixture changes
  • Troubleshoots CNC machining set ups, processes on the shop floor and production problems whenever needed.
  • Design and/or create CAD drawings for: tooling, gauges, gauge holders, and fixtures.
  • Prepare tooling cost estimates for processes by conducting tool usage studies.
  • Select new and improve existing tooling for machining processes.
  • Tests and evaluates equipment, instruments and components to eliminate failures and increase productivity and quality.
  • Creates and maintains process routings, process drawings, CNC programs, and tooling lists
  • Provide technical support for production floor.
  • Read and interpret part prints for finished machined parts.
  • Interacts with tooling, equipment, and sub-contract vendors to determine appropriate specifications and to arrange for the purchase of equipment, materials, or services.
  • Participates in and/or leads cost reduction activities.
  • Works closely with members of Manufacturing and Quality to support company targets for cost, quality, and delivery.
  • Assure operator work schedules support and availability of employees supports labor requirements of the production plan.
  • Coordinate daily tasks according to production priorities and plans, adjusting as necessary due to changing daily conditions of the operation.
  • Collaborate with the TSG Production Support Team and others to in delegation of responsibilities and actions required to achieve Operational Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
  • Champion the safe use of tools, machinery and equipment including training on safety gear, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and operational procedures.
  • Develop and oversee quality standards and assure non-conformances are managed in accordance with TSG Quality Processes and Procedures.
  • Monitor and manage manufacturing expenses and assure cost controls are effective in maintaining adherence to budgets.
  • Report production status to Operations Leadership Team regularly.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as an engineer in a machining manufacturing environment and experience with CNC equipment.
  • Strong working knowledge of machine G&M code and macro programming with MasterCam
  • Good hands on ability (help, assist and perform).
  • Experience working to fine tolerances with materials such as hardened steel.
  • Can read and understand geometric dimension and tolerancing.
  • Experience with CAD software (i.e. AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks).
  • Experience with 3D modeling a plus.
  • General shop fabrication skills a plus.
  • Strong computer skills, experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Team oriented.
  • Ability to work well cross-functionally and communicate with internal and external parties.
  • Strong problem solving skills, including ability to collect data, establish facts, draw conclusions and recommend effective corrective action.
  • Ability to organize, plan, allocate resources and prioritize in order to meet multiple overlapping and competing deadlines and strict timelines.
  • Strict attention to safety.
  • Demonstrated project management and leadership abilities.
  • Good organizational skills (document control).
  • Budget and financial experience.
