Education/Qualifications
Trade School Certificate, Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or a minimum of 2 year(s) related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience with an emphasis in this field.
Prior experience as a mechanic preferred
Skills/Experience
Strong Mechanical skills: Precision assembly work on a variety of medium to large machine tools and are familiar with holding tight tolerance work (.001").
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with and apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability: Use of judgment to plan, perform and make decisions as to the sequence of set-ups, operations and processes within the limitations of recognized or standard methods and procedures.
Other skills and abilities:
- Ability to read and use all types of measuring instruments to verify accuracy of the assembly or sub-assembly
- Ability to read and interpret drawings
- Ability to drive a forklift safely and efficiently and pass forklift certification and driving test
- Ability to operate overhead and jib cranes safely with adequate training
