Position Summary


Leadership and oversight for the assigned department.  Provides technical assistance and training to employees, assists in coordinating production schedules and activities, and maintains a safe work environment.  Drives excellence in first time quality and operational effectiveness for the department via application of continuous improvement tools and methods. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:


  • Oversee and ensure that all safety rules are being followed at all times.

  • Champion Managing Daily Improvement (MDI) processes and other continuous improvement efforts.

  • Assure operator work schedules support and availability of employees supports labor requirements of the production plan.

  • Coordinate daily tasks according to production priorities and plans, adjusting as necessary due to changing daily conditions of the operation.

  • Collaborate with the TSG Production Support Team and others to delegate  responsibilities and actions required to achieve Operational Key Performance Indicators (KPI).

  • Champion the safe use of tools, machinery and equipment including training on safety gear, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and operational procedures.

  • Develop and oversee quality standards and assure non-conformances are managed in accordance with TSG Quality Processes and Procedures.

  • Monitor and manage manufacturing expenses and assure cost controls are effective in maintaining adherence to budgets.

  • Resolve conflicts or miscommunication that may happen on site quickly and amicably.

  • Report production status to Operations Leadership Team regularly.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Directly supervises employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance to the Company policies, the Code of Ethical Business Conduct and applicable laws. 
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. 

Education 


Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school and 8-10 years weld or machine shop experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in a comparable operational environment.


Skills/Experience 


Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.


Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.


Reasoning Ability: Use of judgment to plan, perform and make decisions as to the sequence of set-ups, operations and processes within the limitations of recognized or standard methods and procedures.

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Reads and interprets drawings, sketches, manuals and specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances.
  • Ability to read and use all types of measuring instruments to verify accuracy of work piece within .001”
  • Computer literate
  • Proven experience in related production field and as a group leader
  • Ability to drive a forklift safely and efficiently and pass forklift certification and driving test
  • Ability to operate overhead and jib cranes safely with adequate training
  • Fundamental understanding of machining, welding, or machine assembly
