Education
Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school and 8-10 years weld or machine shop experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in a comparable operational environment.
Skills/Experience
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability: Use of judgment to plan, perform and make decisions as to the sequence of set-ups, operations and processes within the limitations of recognized or standard methods and procedures.
Other Skills and Abilities
- Reads and interprets drawings, sketches, manuals and specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances.
- Ability to read and use all types of measuring instruments to verify accuracy of work piece within .001”
- Computer literate
- Proven experience in related production field and as a group leader
- Ability to drive a forklift safely and efficiently and pass forklift certification and driving test
- Ability to operate overhead and jib cranes safely with adequate training
- Fundamental understanding of machining, welding, or machine assembly
