Position Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineer I is expected to perform the following activities: identification and evaluation of quality, process, materials and design improvements and development of procedures, fixtures, tools and gages to insure continual improvements in accordance with established Company policies, procedures and objectives. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Continually identify, evaluate, recommend and implement manufacturing process, design and quality improvements in order to reduce costs, reduce inventories, reduce lead times and satisfy customers' expectations.
  • Identify, evaluate, recommend, purchase, install and develop inspection and maintenance schedules for all equipment including fixtures, tools, gages, etc. as required for an efficient manufacturing operation.
  • Support the shop floor, collaborate on equipment tooling fixturing requirements, review and document suggestions, provide training recommendations and support quality requirements.
  • Participate in the timely resolution of shop floor manufacturing problems and ensure proper documentation of manufacturing procedures.
  • Participate in plant and equipment maintenance including the preparation and control of a scheduled maintenance program and recommendation of required maintenance.
  • Recommend equipment or facilities changes to effect cost reduction or cost avoidance.
  • Support Engineering and Marketing in the development of cost/price data on existing or new products, processes and proposed engineering changes and review for manufacturing feasibility, cost effectiveness, and conformance to all existing safety, environmental and health regulations.
  • Assist in maintenance and preparation of required documentation, reports, procedures and training to meet applicable safety, environmental and health regulations.
  • Program and direct programming activities including training and integration with Engineering and Manufacturing for computer-controlled equipment and systems as assigned.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation for manufacturing procedures, instruction, and routings. Recommend and support training requirements as required.
  • Establish and complete action plans as required to meet Company's established objectives.
  • Prepare budget recommendations and adhere to authorized budgets.  Be aware of and take advantage of opportunities for savings.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement activities to improve Company processes and products.
  • Perform other assignments or duties as assigned

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent from a college or university with a focus in mechanical or manufacturing engineering; and 0-1 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.



  • Required: Demonstrated ability to develop and execute action plans. Intermediate
  • Required: Highly organized, excellent time management, communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills. Intermediate
  • Required: Proficient in reading and interpreting design prints. Intermediate
  • Required: Technical aptitude and familiarity with manufacturing processes. Intermediate
  • Preferred: Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Intermediate
  • Preferred: Excellent people, communication (written and verbal), negotiation and facilitation skills. Intermediate
  • Preferred: Superior problem-solving skills. Intermediate
  • Preferred: Manage metrics with action plans and bowlers in accordance with the Strategic Deployment Process. Intermediate
  • Preferred: Ability to lead change without having direct authority. Basic
  • Preferred: Practical understanding of Lean business practices and Continuous Improvement process implementation. Basic


Some travel may be required up to 15%.
