Tool Makers, Jigs & Fixtures

• A strong attention to detail, organized and ability to prioritize work assigned, able to work on multiple jobs simultaneously; ability to work in a fast-paced environment and excellent organizational/communication skills are required. Strong mathematical capabilities, including trigonometry and geometry are necessary.

   

• Must be able to design simple to complex tooling/fixtures and machine materials to close tolerances and meet deadlines; must have excellent demeanor and work well in a team environment with hands-on experience.  Strong ability to lead projects, define responsibilities and establish timelines to complete tasks is an asset. 

The incumbent of this role must be a Certified Toolmaker with a minimum of five (5) years post-apprenticeship experience, and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience. In addition, experience or training with design engineering, specifically Auto CAD and CNC programming is an asset.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to handle and feel, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. The employee may occasionally be required to crouch. The employee may occasionally lift items as heavy as 25lbs. Specific vision abilities may include the employee’s ability to see near and far distances.  

While performing the duties of this position, the individual will be in contact with live tools. There may be contact with coolants/oils; noise level is moderate; safety boots and eye/ear protection are required; the working area is climate controlled; Ability to understand and work on tight tolerances.
