Mold Masters is looking for a Quality Supervisor to join our team in Georgetown, ON.   

The Quality Supervisor will develop, implement and support world class manufacturing methods, processes and operations for new and existing products to assure the highest level of customer satisfaction and to meet the profitability objectives of Mold-Masters. The incumbent will provide technical direction, effective supervision to staff in Quality and collaborate with Production, Research and Engineering. The Quality Supervisor will monitor the day-to-day tasks of others, including managing work direction; and achieving the company objectives on internal and external customer satisfaction, quality and on-time delivery.

The Quality Supervisor is responsible to prepare and perform process audits, identify nonconformances, implement corrective actions and process improvements, as well as train other employees. Develop and oversee inspection practices, including review of regional inspection methods, tool calibration, new tool ordering, etc, as per ISO 9001:2015 Standard requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Supervise day to day operation of the assigned work areas to ensure efficient use of resources with an objective to ensure incoming and outgoing activities of the Quality Department meet the requirements of the business;
  • Create and implement efficient quality manufacturing processes for current and new processes that achieve maximum productivity with Lean and Six Sigma capability;
  • Review new product requirements and identify the gaps between the new product requirements and current inspection capabilities;
  • Plan, promote, and organize training activities related to product quality and the Quality system; 
  • Analyze process data to review the process capabilities, communicate with Design, Application Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering to validate manufacturing processes;
  • Investigate root cause of process defect, identify corrective/preventive actions, implement corrective/preventive actions, and review effectiveness;
  • Recommend routine production modification according to external or internal customer requirements;
  • Implement special inspections as per customer requirements;
  • Recommend changing request(s) to respective functions according to failure in process and customer returns;
  • Work with employees engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over inspection tools, fixtures, materials, facilities, and products;
  • Document and maintain Quality Procedures and work instructions per ISO 9000 requirements and customer requirements;
  • Plan and perform internal quality system audits and identify the non-conformance per ISO 9000 and quality management system requirements;
  • Monitor incoming inspection and process failure(s).  Improve incoming inspection effectiveness;
  • Work with suppliers to improve supplier quality, issue corrective action request report(s) to suppliers and review the effectiveness of corrective/preventive action(s) taken;
  • Identify quality trends early, to maximize prevention of future defects;
  • Recommend modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimal quality;  
  • Prepare Quality Report on key performance index;
  • Evaluate employee performance for completion of Performance Reviews;
  • Approve time exceptions (overtime, vacation, etc) for employees;
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety program, including Emergency Response;

The Quality Supervisor will implement various components of a quality control program comprised of data analysis, systems evaluation, product assessment and quality technology. They will document quality issues and performance measures for management review.

The Quality Supervisor will ensure sound change management practices, advise in the development of design, process verification and validation study protocols and the approval of reports, participate in risk management and design/technical review activities, and apply sound statistical and scientific design of studies, sampling and testing. They will drive the improvement of quality, manufacturing, and supplier processes; make recommendations for quality, supplier and manufacturing methods that will result in reduction in manufacturing costs to optimize the productivity and efficiency of Mold-Masters Limited and related companies. The incumbent is responsible for evaluating customer returns from a technical perspective, facilitating team approach to investigate the root cause of the failure and implement corrective and preventive action(s), reviewing the effectiveness of the actions taken by the team. The Quality Supervisor will investigate customer complaints and quality system non-conformance regarding quality management system and product performance.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

The Quality Supervisor is responsible for prioritizing, delegating and assigning work. This includes supervising, meeting ISO standards, being responsible for assigned resources, and acting as a technical resource for team members and other departments to resolve quality issues.

The Quality Supervisor will have a range of depth/breadth of technical skills and practical judgment; initiates/negotiates and receives sensitive information on a regular basis and supervises assigned team’s output, including assigning work and providing input on performance issues and team concerns.

The incumbent will help to identify the root cause for non-conformance, determine the corrective/preventive action, implement corrective/preventive action, and validate the effectiveness of the corrective/preventive action. The incumbent will evaluate data from customer returns, process scrap and rework, communicate with customers, sales/service, suppliers and internal staff; write reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.


  • A minimum of seven (7) years of related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Min five (5) years of experience in a managerial role is required, along with knowledge of specific PET tooling.   
  • Proficiency with computer skills; experience with databases is an asset; previous experience and/or training in Quality Tools and Methods and Analysis (E.g. Root Cause Analysis, Six Sigma, FMEA, Pareto Charts, FMEA, MSA, SPC, 8D) preferred.  Demonstrative experience, not less than (2) years, in an ISO 9000 environment is required.
  • Familiar with computer-controlled inspection tools—CMM, Projector, Round test. Good knowledge on GD&T. Experience with SAP or an ERP is preferred. Experience in calibration process.
  • A strong attention to detail, ability to work in a fast-paced environment and excellent organizational skills are required. The ability to write routine reports and to communicate effectively with co-workers, management and possibly external suppliers is a requirement.


Must have a Mechanical /or Electrical degree.
