Position Summary:

Hillenbrand is looking for a Sustainability Analyst to join our team! This is a remote opportunity. As a Sustainability Analyst, you will be responsible for research, support, propose, and implement policies and procedures to promote the highest level of environmental responsibility throughout Hillenbrand Operations. This position involves carrying out and maintaining existing sustainability programs, motivating team members to participate in new programs, regularly providing research support and performance data reports

What you’ll do:

  • Conduct research on sustainability trends, emerging technologies, initiatives and best practices; use database systems to store, research and retrieve data for reporting and analyses
  • Prepare project analyses and create and maintain periodic reports measuring key metrics in sustainability
  • Provide recommendations to senior management based on results of analyses
  • Update and maintain sustainability materials, including best practice guidelines and PowerPoint presentations
  • Facilitate conversations between multiple stakeholders to assist in devising sustainability strategies
  • Support certification and assist in defining sustainable design implementation strategies.
  • Prepare clear, concise, and highly visual reporting of sustainable design and certification strategies
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and identify continuous improvement opportunities
  • Coordinating the implementation of global initiatives 
  • Other duties may be assigned


Your experience should include: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sustainability, Engineering or Environmental Sciences and a minimum of 1 to 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Background or degree in sustainability, environmental management or EHS preferred
  • Knowledge of and passion for sustainability.
  • Ability to carry out responsibilities and determine work priorities independently.
  • Attention to detail and good organizational skills.
  • Experience collecting, tracking, and conducting data analysis.
  • Ability to synthesize complex information into graphs and tables for Board/staff discussion and community outreach.
  • Proficiency working with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and other database software.
  • Exemplary written and verbal communication skills; ability to listen actively, receive and incorporate feedback, and communicate directly and respectfully at all times.
  • Experience working with project teams to create solutions that deliver ambitious sustainable design and certification outcomes.
  • Ability to remain open to the ideas of others and trying new approaches.
  • Willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities.
  • Ability to use available resources to increase knowledge of industry sustainability trends and opportunities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.



  • Employee must be able to travel up to 15 – 20%
