Hillenbrand is looking for a Senior Risk Analyst to join our team. As a Senior Risk Analyst you will be responsible for effectively supporting the day-to-day activities related to Risk Management Department as well as serving both internal and external customers.  The Senior Risk Analyst helps drive efficient and effective risk assessment and management activities to achieve Hillenbrand corporate objectives and support the business goals of its operating companies.

What you’ll do:

  • Support Director by anticipate and help drive improvements to the insurance strategy of the company’s insurable risk profile; evolves and rapidly scales up with the company’s assets and operations
  • Gather and manage the collection of accurate exposure data from operating company through Risk Management Information System and loss information for submissions to support timely and effective renewals Check all corporate insurance policies for accuracy and suggest changes where necessary for including but not limited to : Workers Compensation, Business Automobile Liability, Commercial General Liability including Products, Umbrella/Excess, Professional (E&O), International Liability, Property, Employment Practices, Fiduciary, Crime, Special , Ocean Marine Cargo, Motor Truck Cargo, Cyber and Surety Bonds
  • Facilitate operating company enrollment in specified workers compensation group rating programs and drive program savings (example: State of Ohio) and support the integration of newly acquired companies
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert within Insurance to assist other internal groups with any insurance related issues and support operating company through contract reviews, and provide advice on insurance requirements
  • Timely process certificate of insurance requests, automobile identification cards, invoices, distributes workers compensation posting notices to company locations and collaborate with Director and Finance team for accurate budgeting and forecasting insurance premiums
  • Provide claim management oversight to operating company by participating in quarterly claim reviews, ensure proper claim reserves are established for further actuarial analysis, provide guidance and support in claim investigations (where applicable), and make settlement recommendations to ensure timely resolution and closure
  • Collaborate with Global Health & Safety by providing risk management and broker/carriers’ safety resources to operating company by promoting safety awareness and risks across the enterprise and communicate industry best practices and guidance to operating companies’ injury trends and help determine solutions to prevent further losses
  • Coordinate scheduling and participate in risk engineering visits (as needed) with Director and/or property carrier, review risk assessment reports for accuracy and follow-up with facilities with open property loss prevention recommendations to ensure timely completion   
  • Ensure and maintain a Sarbanes Oxley compliant environment within Risk Management Department through the execution of key controls and data integrity and respond to Internal Auditor’s request on a timely basis
  • Assist Director in managing external business relationship with Third-Party Administrators, Brokers and Underwriters
  • Other duties may be assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or Risk Management
  • 5+ years of experience in corporate risk management, insurance company or insurance brokerage experience in a complex organization with proven experience assessing risks, contract review, insurance placement and claims management.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office


Great to Haves/Soft Skills:

  • ARM, CRM, CPCU, or other Risk Management professional designations preferred  
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work professionally with Third-Party Administrators, brokers, underwriters, and co-workers. 
  • Ability to work with competing priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationship and strengthen our culture of inclusion
