Position Summary

The Enterprise Application Architect is responsible for setting the vision for the technology environment, in alignment with desired business outcomes.  This role is also accountable for developing infrastructure and application architecture standards and working across the IT organization to ensure that standards are consistently applied

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Defining and developing an enterprise architecture and application roadmaps

  • Based on the roadmap, define and communicate application and infrastructure standards that will ensure that the evolution of technology used will be aligned with the defined roadmap

  • Providing skilled resources to work with the “line” IT units (i.e., Operations and Applications) to ensure that the roadmap and standards are appropriately applied to new technology development

  • Evaluating solutions and ensuring compliance with methodologies and standards, ensuring that new solutions are aligned with long-term technology vision

  • Managing the Architecture Review Board to ensure that the roadmap and architectural standards are based on user feedback and will be followed in the line

  • Developing and managing the tools and framework repository

  • Defining data standards for the enterprise and establishing data governance approaches across IT and into the business, as appropriate

  • Overseeing technology innovation spending and innovation diffusion

  • Defining and delivering standards, guidelines and frameworks to support the development and integration of applications and infrastructure consistent with the enterprise architecture roadmap

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.   


Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Management of Information Systems; and a minimum of ten years (15 preferred) related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.



  • Ability to create a holistic integrated view on the enterprise and ability to model

  • Ability to understand the business model, process knowledge and fundamental IT architectures and technologies

  • Advanced experience in building and governing an enterprise architecture program that includes a framework with clearly defined processes following a set of best practices.

  • Advanced experience in business skills and methods – strategy planning and budget management

  • Advanced experience with architect modeling and graphic representations and role design

  • Awareness of IT Security and Legal environments – data protection, contract law

  • Strong communication, both written and verbal, and interpersonal skills

  • Technical Acumen

  • Functional Business Knowledge

  • Understanding of EA Tools and Techniques

  • Business Acumen

  • Project and Resource Management

  • Team Leadership and Communication Skills

  • Negotiation Skills

  • Emerging Technology Trends

  • Industry And Organizational Awareness



Employee must be able to travel up to 20% of the time.
