We are hiring a full time CNC Deck Down Operator with a $1000 sign-on bonus! This is an excellent entry level position for someone interested in a career in manufacturing or CNC operation. Attention to detail and a mechanical aptitude is crucial to success in this role. 

The CNC Deck Down Operator for DME in Greenville, MI will work as part of the direct manufacturing shop-floor team. In this position, the CNC Deck Down Operator will use computer numerically controlled (CNC) machinery safely and accurately in a manufacturing environment. This position will work with precision while complying with all safety guidelines. This position will be conducive to an applicant with limited CNC experience but a CNC background or training.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and operate CNC machines to perform tasks such as drilling, milling etc.
  • Understand specifications of the task at hand and the desired result by reading blueprints, mechanical drawings etc.
  • Translate instructions into computer commands ensuring machines can perform the correct function.
  • Prepare and load raw materials and parts in the machines.
  • Prepare a test run to check if the machines produce outputs according to specifications.
  • Set machines to complete full cycles to fabricate large number of parts.
  • Supervise the machines while they execute the tasks and make any necessary adjustments to produce a better result.
  • Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properly.
  • Check and maintain machinery daily to ensure functionality.
  • Read and comprehend instructions and follow established procedures.
  • Understand how to operate the machine controls.
  • Make size adjustments and understand measuring instruments.
  • Take precision measurements using micrometers.
  • Check output to ensure highest quality.
  • Maintain equipment in good condition and perform operator preventative maintenance.
  • Submit requests for maintenance repair as required.
  • Keep records of production quantities and time.
  • Report on issues, malfunction or defective parts.
  • Able to stop production if the work center/machine is not producing products that meet all required specifications.
  • Properly identify all product processed with work order number, inspection status, and operation status.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and operate machinery in a safe manner.
  • Physical presence on the job is essential and necessary including weekends and holidays if deemed necessary by the company.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 

Experience

  • Mechanical aptitude and good math skills.
  • Ability to use and read a micrometer and prevision measuring tools.
  • Ability to read blueprints, drawings etc.
  • A keen eye for detail and results-driven approach.
  • Successfully completed apprenticeship is preferred.
  • Skill in operating CNC machinery and tooling as well as precision measurement tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings.
  • Computer savvy with basic understanding of computer programming and CAD/CAM.
  • Ability to understand quality control principles.
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to follow all safety guidelines.

 

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent

 

Qualifications

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to handle and feel, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.
  • The employee may occasionally be required to crouch.
  • The employee may occasionally lift items as heavy as 25lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities may include the employee’s ability to see near and far distances.
