Coperion is looking for a Sr. Cost Accountant to join our team in Wytheville, VA. As the Sr. Cost Accountant you are responsible for providing stakeholders across our business with the analysis and information they need to make decisions that help drive our growth.

What you’ll do:
•    Preparing and updating cost accounting analysis and reports along with calculating monthly revenue recognition entries on Percentage of Completion (POC) projects
•    Monitor inventories as well as operational and capital expenses, prepare month-end closing analysis and perform root cause analysis for manufacturing variances, working with various stakeholders to develop corrective actions.
•    Maintaining POC Project Tracking and Calculation File and preparing appropriate journal entry vouchers for month-end close
•    Evaluating projects for point-in-time v. POC accounting treatment, preparing required disclosures under the new Revenue Recognition Standard (ASC 606) and maintaining related Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance
•    Set up systems and processes for the costing function, this includes the full range of Cost Accounting activities
•    Prepare and provide analysis of cost variance
•    Reviewing new work orders for accuracy of coding; monitoring active work orders, time entry, and work order variances; and analyzing monthly work-in-process account balances
•    Maintaining various monthly order intake analysis statistics and preparing other project and sales related reports and analyses as needed  
•    Work closely with onsite managers to provide them support relating to cost related matters
•    Participate in the preparation of the annual plant operating budget including standard product cost development, budgeted variances, cost center budgeting, headcount requirements, volume analysis and raw material pricing analysis.
•    Other duties may be assigned

Basic Requirements:
•    Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance with Certified Management Accountant (CMA) a strong plus
•    3 years’ experience in Cost / Project accounting experience in manufacturing environment required preferably with US SEC registered company

Great to Haves:
•    ERP Experience (SAP, Oracle, etc.) preferred; QAD experience a strong plus
•    Familiarity with US GAAP revenue recognition rules and SOX internal controls
•    Advanced knowledge and use of MS Excel
•    In- depth knowledge and experience in analyzing and reporting financial results, developing budgets and forecasts and analysis
•    Excellent communication, planning, scheduling and project management skills
•    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; must be detailed-oriented
