Skills/Experience:

  • Knowledge of math/algebra (i.e. areas of plane, volume of solids).
  • Mechanics, calculation of various moments, center of gravity, etc.
  • Knowledge of metal and non-ferrous materials and their properties.
  • Knowledge of SI (metric) system.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing practices.
  • Knowledge of U.S. Customary system (inches) and SI system (Metric), various ANSI and ISO Engineering and drafting standards.
  • General knowledge of ISO 9001 standards; detail knowledge of chapters Design control, Document control and Non-conforming product.
  • Knowledge of plotter, blueprint machine.
  • Knowledge of DOS, Windows, Microsoft products, Lotus, AutoCAD, Genius, WinZip,  Automanager View, Transpack (sheet metal layout), scheduling software, utility program, MAPICS, ERS.
  • Possess a solid understanding of design concepts, practices & procedures.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills; sound planning and organizational skills.
  • Professional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • High level of proficiency using Microsoft Office; PC spreadsheets (Excel preferred).

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical technology, preferred.
  • Understanding of computerized systems, preferably Mapics, AutoCAD, and Inventor or Solid Works.
