Batesville is looking for a Senior Communications Specialist to join our team. We are open to hiring remotely for this position, or someone located in Batesville, Indiana. As a Senior Communications Specialist, you will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive communications plans and messaging tools and programs to support a variety of departmental projects, events, and employee programs to support the company’s strategic initiatives and ongoing business operations. The Senior Communications Specialist has primary responsibility for managing the content, postings, and metrics for the company’s SharePoint intranet site and will help in building and maintaining a companywide communications calendar to ensure aligned, proactive, and effective communications processes.

What you’ll do:
•    Work with senior leaders and internal business partners to assess communications needs and build effective tools to ensure that goals are met
•    Work as a trusted partner and adviser to internal business partners across multiple disciplines to identify communications needs and assist with the creation, development, and execution of content
•    Leverage strategic thinking and strong writing and editing skills to effectively communicate what we need employees to know, feel and do
•    Translate complex ideas and processes into simple, authentic, and compelling communications, fluidly navigating between strategy and execution
•    Produce original content for a variety of internal and external audiences, including memos, newsletters, videos, customer letters, intranet, web and social media, speeches, and presentations, applying nuances for different workgroups and customer segments
•    Work with internal and external design resources to create visual elements, such as posters, banners, emails, videos, or other materials
•    Develop message strategies to update customers on changes in our business, including sales coverage, service locations, delivery policies, technology system updates, and other issues, and manage those projects through completion with other internal and external sources
•    Minimal travel is required
•    Other duties may be assigned

 

 

Basic Requirements:
•    Associates degree (A.S./A.A.) or equivalent in communication, journalism, public relations, marketing, or a related field
•    Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in a corporate or for-profit business environment handling internal or external communications, marketing communications, or public relations

 

Great to Haves:
•    Bachelor’s degree (B.S./B.A.) or equivalent in communication, journalism, public relations, marketing, or a related field
•    Expert verbal and written communication skills
•    Experience developing messaging strategies and writing for different communications channels and audiences 
•    Knowledge of various communications platforms and techniques including video scripting, recording and editing, speechwriting, press releases, memos, letters, digital communications, and presentations
•    Analytic thinking with strong business acumen and an understanding of marketing, branding, and positioning
•    Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to collaborate with colleagues in all functions and at all levels of the company
•    Self-starter mindset with ability to adapt and thrive in a remote environment, managing multiple projects and priorities, while dynamically prioritizing projects as needed with minimal oversite
•    Research and gather employee feedback and leverage data to drive continuous improvement in our internal communication platforms and efforts
•    Strong interviewing and listening skills
•    Ability to extract key messages from non-communicators
•    Excellent computer skills including the Microsoft Office suite, experience with email marketing platforms, project planning software, social media and blog platforms, SharePoint, and content management software
•    Knowledge of AP Style
