Position Summary

The Quality Engineer will champion action plans to address significant customer or plant quality issues.  They will lead strategic initiatives and lead quality and kaizen events targeting product and process improvements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
  • Requires knowledge and experience in own discipline; still acquiring higher level knowledge and skills
  • Builds knowledge of the organization, processes and customers
  • Solves a range of straightforward problems
  • Analyzes possible solutions using standard procedures
  • Receives instruction, guidance or direction from others
  • Plan and conducts the analysis, inspection, design, test, and/or integration to assure the quality of assigned product or component.
  • Reviews purchased products or components and provides input to the decision of whether to accept the product and future purchases from the vendor.
  • Applies statistical process controls (SPC) methods and quality design and control tools (PFMEA, Control Plan, DOE, etc.) for analyzing data to evaluate the current process and processes changes.
  • Develops new approaches to solve problems identified during quality assurance activities.
  • Prepares and presents technical program information and reports to team members and management.
  • Actively communicates with customers and peers at customer sites.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
 
May directly supervises Auditors and/or Technicians. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance to the Company policies, the Code of Ethical Business Conduct and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
 
Travel
 
Employee must be able to travel <20% of the time.
 
Education
 
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent from a college or university in Engineering, Industrial Technology or related field; and four to six years related Quality experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience with an emphasis in Quality.
 
Preferred Skills/Experience
  • ASQ certification preferred
  • Experience in JDE, AutoCAD, and Statistical software preferred.
  • Lean/CI Certification preferred
  • Ability to train/manage/lead/understand Lean or CI activities and initiatives required.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
