 Coperion K-Tron is looking for a Production Manager and the position will be located in Salina, KS.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

The Production Manager Operational Excellence position is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Coperion K-Tron manufacturing operation.  Plan, organize, staff, direct, and control all warehouse activities.  Assist top management in establishing and achieving warehouse performance objectives, metrics, and strategic plans for the facility.  Accountable for achieving prescribed company objectives regarding costs, continuous improvement, productivity, and profits.

  • Evaluate work processes and machinery utilization to develop improvements; administer ongoing process improvement programs.
  • Determine best methods to produce highest quality parts at lowest possible cost.
  • Level load manpower based on operational needs.
  • Flow down leadership communication daily.
  • Coach and mentor employees.
  • Demonstrate personal leadership; actively participate in and lead problem solving and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Practice good communication with employees at all levels.
  • Demonstrate flexibility when confronted with high stress or emergency situations, priority changes, or new assignments.
  • Interact professionally with customers and employees.
  • Understand and support Company philosophies, goals, and directions.
  • Assign and monitor employees in the performance of diverse duties in terms of productivity, quality, safety, and efficiency.
  • Investigate and resolve part discrepancy and delivery issues.
  • Develop, implement, and manage a system of controls to ensure that service levels and operations performance goals are obtained within the cost, revenue, and profit parameters established for the facility.
  • Facilitate the production of parts with engineering and manufacturing departments.
  • Maintain metrics concerning critical business performance criteria.
  • Keep abreast of relevant new technology and make recommendations as applicable.
  • Ensure compliance to ISO specifications and relevant audits.
  • Verify products meet quality specifications and standards and look for ways to reduce quality errors.
  • Manage inventory and cycle counts to reduce backlog and fill orders timely.
  • Ability to train and rotate throughout all operations.
  • Must be able to travel 5-10% of the time.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Skills/Experience:

  • Lean principles and project facilitation strongly desired.
  • Logistics, inventory control, and strong analyzation skill required.
  • Global manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Site to site coordination/planning needed.
  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner.
  • Listen and responds persuasively in positive or negative situations.
  • Works with management in planning, decision-making, facilitating and process improvements. 
  • Develops strategies to achieve organizational goals.
  • Prioritizes and plans work activities.  Organizes and schedules employees and their tasks.
  • Continually look for ways to improve and promote quality.
  • Observes safety and security procedures and reports unsafe conditions, etc.
  • Experience with MRP/ERP system, preferably MAPICS.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and mechanical drawings.
  • Must have good time management and organizational skills.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business and/or equivalent manufacturing experience of 4-6 years in a supervisory or leadership role with a proven track record of continuously improving operations.
