Responsible for the optimization of assigned operations area in terms of safety, quality, delivery and cost.  Manages the daily activities of operations management and staff to attain goals and objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

  • Responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating and controlling production and support activities. Specific areas of responsibility are safety, quality, schedule adherence, productivity, cost, budgets, and developing and implementing lean manufacturing strategy for area of responsibility.
  • Ensure that all positions in the organization are filled with effective associates and that they are trained and coached to maximize operational goals.
  • Evaluate the talent level of the staff and differentiate between employees. Assist associates in creating effective development plans and ensure they are ready for additional responsibilities.
  • Maintain good communication with associates and management.
  • Manage associates utilizing Human Resources processes, including performance reviews (APA), development plans and top grading.
  • Follow all company policies/practices.
  • Provide a safe working environment, ensuring that accidents are investigated and countermeasures are implemented to eliminate recurrence.
  • Develops and fosters a culture of improvement activity by leading, coaching and supporting associates to produce quality products.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Manage multiple subordinate salaried exempt Group Leaders and/or Superintendents who supervise 2 to 50 employees in the Operations Department in order to meet daily production requirements.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance to the Company policies, the Code of Ethical Business Conduct and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Employee must be able to travel 10% of the time.  


Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent from a college or university in Industrial/Business Management or Engineering preferred: and 6 to 8 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Skills
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. 
  • Ability to write reports, capital requests, performance reviews, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software; Manufacturing software; Presentation software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

 Preferred Experience

  • Experience and success implementing Lean Management, Manufacturing, and Continuous Improvement concepts, principles and practices (including, but not limited to 5S, CI, Flow, PFEP, Pull Systems/KanBan, VSM, etc.)
