Position Summary: 

The Manufacturing Engineer role is responsible for developing and improving an optimized industrial solution to support the Milacron Afton facility by facilitating activities that implement and maintain processes to support safety, delivery, quality, and reduced costs in manufacturing. This position has a strong interaction with production and other groups in the manufacturing engineering department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Recommend and implement process improvements
  • Support implementation of Milacron Production System (MPS)
  • Support short- and long-term industrial plan to achieve flexible and efficient capacity solution
  • Develop and improve processes, quality and procedures in manufacturing and other support functions to increase safety, reduce costs, and improve productivity and through put.
  • Utilize lean tools to provide continuous improvement.
  • Implement & support kitting operations.
  • Support short and long plan industrial plan to achieve flexible and efficient capacity solutions.
  • Support new product development process (NDP) and sustaining engineering to ensure quality product manufacturability at minimum cost.
  • Provide plant layouts, process flow layouts and value stream maps to improve productivity and provide for future requirements.
  • Select optimum capital equipment as appropriate up to one hundred thousand dollars; then justify and oversee purchase, installation and start-up.
  • Investigate and resolve production and quality problems, conferring with the appropriate salary and hourly personnel as required.
  • Improve the accuracy of production standards through time study, standard data development, and the application of elemental standard times or other methods.
  • Serve as a catalyst and technical resource for team problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • Improve safety and reduce environmental hazards in all endeavors.


  • One to five years’ experience in manufacturing processes in a heavy manufacturing industry.
  • Experience in the design and use of jigs and fixtures.
  • A working knowledge of designing for production, JIT, lean and continuous improvement techniques.
  • Computer skills in word processing, spread sheet, and CAD software.
  • Good communications skills and the ability to partner and team up with diverse groups and disciplines.
  • Project management experience preferred.



  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering/Technology, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
