Position Summary:

The Key Account Manager for Mold-Masters is responsible to actively and aggressively promote Mold-Masters as the leading edge supplier of any and all technologies related to the of the injection molding industry.  Each Key Account Manager (KAM) will be assigned a sales territory and will be assigned key accounts within the territory.  The KAM will be responsible for all sales activities with those key accounts and will be responsible for acquiring new key accounts.  As the Key Account Manager, the incumbent will be responsible to ensure dedicated support to meet the customer’s business needs and to develop long term relationship within the Medical and Packaging market.    The successful incumbent will have a strong ability to develop long-term partnerships and to optimize the potential of Mold-Masters’ technology solutions.  The KAM will play a key role in the development of new products and services, as well as new business development.  The ability to measure results and provide feedback internally is an important responsibility for this role.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Co-ordinate and execute a targeted plan of action to develop and grow/expand specific key accounts (includes cold calls) in support of corporate goals and objectives.
  • Provide management and TFS with sales updates for potential global and key accounts as well as quarterly and annual forecasts.
  • Provide quarterly or bi-annual account review and plans to management
  • Consult and advise customers, based on our industry leading experience, how to improve productivity by incorporating the very latest technologies.
  • In concert with the Sales Leadership, deploy internal resources regionally, based on value of opportunity and expected return
  • Coach and mentor by providing coaching and mentoring of peers, including Technical Fields Sales members, especially where it lends itself to grow the market.  Exchange experiences with sales team members to improve their respective ability to offer proven solutions.
  • Ensure that all efforts, communications, transactions, and exchanges of information are continually supporting the corporate vision.
  • Abide by any procedures and policies as communicated by corporate.  Apply the Sales Force Efficiency philosophy daily, by completing pre-calls, documenting meetings, completing reports to ensure all measures, communications and information are well within the Company objectives
  • Communicate with sales management team and internal support staff and keep them informed of any and all market developments.
  • Review all technical requirements for the given application, integration of hot runner system (if necessary) and mold design (if necessary) to ensure successful application of the hot runner system.
  • Co-ordinate with Engineering concept of manifold layout, special components of hot runner system and sufficient data of application to corporate support staff to facilitate appropriate checks and reviews of application suitability.
  • Represents Mold-Masters’ customers at tradeshows and other events.
  • Participate in design reviews and/or programs at the request of customers.
  • Assist all customers from a technical perspective.
  • Constantly develop and expand own technical knowledge and experience.
  • Complete Corrective Action Reports, as required, and work with other internal technical and manufacturing teams to resolve quality issues.
  • Advise whenever field service is required.
  • Communicate regularly with customer to gather information and forward changes to marketing.
  • Completes in a timely manner all administrative duties such as Pivotal database, reports and expenses.
  • Advise Service and Support Departments of any and all field issues including (but not limited to) quality concerns, manufacturing, defects, inappropriate packing, and unacceptable practices of any nature.
  • Provide sales number updates for Key Accounts and annual forecast.
  • Make recommendations for productivity and/or method improvement.
  • Ensure ISO guidelines are followed.

Providing services and support to internal and external customers, suppliers

In this role, the Key Account Manager will be responsible to ensure the growth and maintenance of the assigned key accounts within the Market Segment.  The incumbent will maintain an accurate record of all activities within the territory by compiling reports, statistics and correspondence to the customer.  The incumbent will contact and develop strong business relationships with new and existing customers, qualify sales leads to ensure customer satisfaction and sales growth.  The Key Account Manager will interact with the support departments to ensure all customer needs are met.  This position will require the incumbent to play a major role in identifying and coordinating regional programs with the customer as well as the corresponding Mold-Masters location.  The Key Account Manager is required to update Pivotal with all pertinent customer information.

The Key Account Manager interacts with other team members to achieve retention of current customers as well as developing leads with new customers.  The incumbent must develop, refine and execute the sales strategy for the assigned Market.  The incumbent will be responsible for communicating to other team members and management when there is concern regarding an account.  The Key Account Manager is responsible to manage expenses appropriately and submission of same in the timely manner. The incumbent will assist in providing mentoring and coaching to other Sales Team Members.

Skills and Experience
  • 6-7 years related experience and/or training

  • Sound knowledge of the injection molding process.

  • Previous sales experience with developing high value and high potential key accounts within the plastics industry required

  • The ability to speak and write the language appropriate to the geographic area assigned to is required

  • The ability to read, analyze engineering drawings, mold prints, technical procedures, and/or governmental regulations. 

  • Ability to interpret and act on procedures, policies and documents such as pricing, job status forms, customer relations, sales forecasting and troubleshooting. 

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general staff in order to influence and negotiate. 

  • Ability to cultivate positive relationships with both customers and internal staff, along with working independently with minimal supervision, is a must. 

  • Ability to problem solve with team members, on existing or future orders, must be accomplished independently with the appropriate follow-up to ensure a successful outcome.  This includes the management of their daily workload.



  • Processing experience and mold building experience preferred


The incumbent in this role must have a university degree or College Diploma in Mechanical/Plastics Engineering; with minimum six to seven years (6-7) related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. competency in business English being an asset.


Effort and Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit, drive an automobile and use their hands to handle or feel. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds to 60 pounds.   Specific vision requirements are for good general vision, ability to distinguish between colours, and the ability to adjust focus. 


​​​​​​​The incumbent in this role must be able to properly function in an office and manufacturing environment.  The overall noise level in the work environment is usually minimal to moderate.  Safety boots, hearing protection and eye protection is often required.  The working area is usually but not always climate controlled.  The incumbent must be able to regularly travel within the territory assigned, regionally and/or internationally as required for training, sales meetings and customer/sales requirements.
