Position Summary:
 

The Fleet Safety & Compliance Leader may be located out of any geographical area in the USA so long as the candidate has the ability to access a nearby commercial airport.

 

This role develops an organizational safety and compliance strategy and structure that matches the needs of the entire Logistics enterprise. The mission of this position includes:

  • Driving award winning safety performance by ensuring safety is a core value.
  • Improving and maintaining customer partnerships through world class customer service.
  • Developing a comprehensive compliance / training strategy
  • Transforming our safety / compliance processes through our Lean business principles lens.
  • Driving structural change throughout the Logistics organization to achieve all initiatives / metrics while relentlessly living the Logistics Vision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

 
  • Ensure safety is at the forefront of all of our actions and decisions.
  • Implements and drives a comprehensive compliance strategy.
  • Manage, assess, and develop talent.
  • Drive the implementation of structural change in the organization both in the areas of delivery scheduling and tactics.
  • Accountability for Logistics operational performance in the following areas:, Safety, Quality, Delivery, Customer Satisfaction, Cost Performance, Property Management, Safeguarding Company Assets, Work Standards, Procedures and Policies
  • Drive improvements utilizing Lean business practices:  Policy Deployment, Glass wall, Visual tools (e.g. 5S), problem solving tools (e.g. root cause countermeasure, pareto, etc.).
  • Leverage telematics data and insights to analyze causes of accidents, driver behavior and near misses, identify risk trends, and develop plans to mitigate the risk.
  • Coordinate with the Logistics Director in crafting and executing strategies that build a culture of safety within the Company.
  • Validates regulatory and policy compliance, formulates strategies and tactics, and develops improvement initiatives to prevent injuries and vehicle crashes, reduce liability costs, and mitigate risk.
  • Serves as a Driver Fleet Safety subject matter expert for the field operations, management and senior leadership.
  • Responsible for ensuring our company's policies and procedures comply with regulatory and ethical standards such as DOT, FMSCA and OSHA.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

 

Indirect supervision of all Logistics associates under the direction of the Director of Logistics


Skills/Experience:
 
Required/preferred skills:
  • Exceptional character and leadership qualities.
  • Demonstrated ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • The ability to communicate with all levels in the organization.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft products:  Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Required/preferred experience:
  • At least 10 years of leadership experience.
  • Experience applying Lean business principles and tools.
Education:
 

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent from a college or university; and 10+ years related logistics/management leadership experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience with an emphasis in logistics experience.

 
Travel:
 

Employee must be able to travel 50% of the time.
