Field Service Technician

Position Summary:

Field Service Technicians are primarily responsible for providing quality installations, maintenance and repairs of plastic injection/extrusion equipment. Breakdowns will require troubleshooting of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical components and circuits. A person who has installed, repaired, troubleshot robotics, major machine tooling, plastic injection molding machines, blow molding machines or extrusion machines would be a great fit for this position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Troubleshoot and repair plastic injection/extrusion equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment (strong knowledge of motor & pump controls).
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance activities on equipment.
  • Support customers by effectively interfacing with customer and office in repairing equipment as needed.
  • Evaluate and make recommendations regarding required repairs.
  • Provide a high level of communication with both Customer and Office.


  • Minimum 2 to 4 years work experience in plastic injection/extrusion equipment or similar types of equipment or machine tool.
  • Machining and welding skills desired.
  • Proven Mechanical and electrical skills required to include the ability to read mechanical blueprint and electrical schematics.
  • Must have and maintain a good driving record and cannot be afraid of heights.
  • Overtime and out of town travel is necessary. Prior experience in plastics a plus.
  • Experience in repair and troubleshooting of Military electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatics of complex systems would be plus.
  • Will have a high degree of understanding of installing computer software programs as they pertain to manufactured machines and the downloading of software to the machine PLC's.


  • Minimum of an Associate Degree in Industrial Electricity, Electronic Engineering technology or related field or equivalent vocational/technical training and experience.


During or upon graduations from the program employee will be expected to perform field service at customer locations and must capable of performing machine maintenance. Aside from technical capability, the employee must have interpersonal skills commensurate with expectations for a field service technician who also promotes product sales and further services.
