Position Summary:

The Director of Operations and Supply Chain in Gastonia, NC will be responsible for developing and deploying operational and supply chain strategy, training and development of subordinate staff, estimating personnel needs, assigning work, meeting completion dates, interpreting and ensuring consistent application of organizational policies. This position will own and oversee the Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, and Process Management functions. This position will use research and analysis to make data-based decisions to deliver key strategies, objectives, process improvements and metric alignment that will result in cost reduction, cost avoidance, risk management and service/quality improvements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
  • Key member of the Red Valve management team.  Works with the team in setting policy and creating the strategy.  Effectively develop and deploy the Red Valve Operations and Supply Chain Strategic Plan.  Interact regularly with individual department heads to ensure that company’s operational priorities are aligned with total company direction
  • Leader who is able to motivate, inspire, and develop team members
  • Champion the development and implementation of consistent controls, policies and procedures throughout operations and supply chain.
  • Own key business metrics of SQDC, OTD, productivity, DIOH and EBITDA by implementing and supporting lean and continuous improvement activities.  Plan, propose, lead, and execute value stream mapping and team-based continuous improvements to execute improvements and efficiencies
  • Synchronizing the organization and driving customer responsiveness through cooperation with the sales organization (Sales & Ops planning process).
  • Orchestrating the organization through the execution of right part, right place, and right time in support of the business needs (both upstream and downstream) to ultimately ensure on-time delivery to our customers.
  • Development of global supply chain capacity management strategies consistent with our long-term goals of driving profitability.
  • Protect and maintain the company’s long-standing history by ensuring open lines of communication, both upward and downward, in the organization. Also, making sure our associates feel they have a voice in the business.
  • Share information about global best practices, innovative ideas, and collaborative opportunities
  • Lead working capital initiatives to drive improvement in DIOH
  • Maintain a safe work environment and provide oversight of the Safety Committee and site HR. 
  • Coordinate and collaborate with other departments of the Company in establishing and carrying out responsibilities and change management.
  • Adheres to, communicates and maintains standard processes, procedures and policies to commercial operations team members
  • Participates in special projects as required 
 
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance to the Company policies, the Code of Ethical Business Conduct and applicable laws.
 
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Education:

                                                                                                       
Skills/Experience:
  • Positive can-do attitude and an energetic work ethic
  • 15+ years’ experience in a LEAN manufacturing work environment
    • Experience in a low volume, high mix product portfolio is strongly desired
  • 10+ years’ experience in managing direct reports
  • 10+ years’ experience in strategy deployment
  • Practical knowledge of Lean business practices
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills with the proven ability to develop personnel
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute action plans
  • Executive Team member (Cohesive team member, Owns input)
  • Manage metrics with action plans and bowlers in strict accordance with the Strategic Deployment Process.
  • Ability to coach and mentor
  • Set’s high expectations and holds team members accountable
  • Ability to motivate and get most out of team
  • Utilizes objective measurements to support progress & growth
  • Courage to take risks
 
Travel:

Employee must be able to travel 25% of the time (domestic and international).
