Position Summary:

The Director, Manufacturing Engineering will be accountable for the development of manufacturing capabilities and standards to assure proper manufacturing processing of components and assemblies to drive safety, quality, and productivity improvements across multiple facilities. This person will also be coordinating shop floor projects and activities to achieve timely resolution to manufacturing problems and new product and process launches.

This position is part of the operations leadership team and provides vision and direction to drive continuous improvement throughout North American Operations.  This person will also interface with operations, production engineering, design, quality, purchasing, safety, and component suppliers to ensure products are manufactured with the most cost-effective methods at the highest quality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Must have an extensive knowledge of manufacturing engineering practices and principles. 
  • Establish goals and expectations for the department to support daily operations and drive project execution.
  • Drive continuous improvement using lean manufacturing tools.
  • Ability to drive accountability culture to execute projects efficiently.
  • Evaluates cost, product design methods, interpersonal skills and the ability to integrate all of these skills to a productive cost-effective result. 
  • Monitor and direct day to day process development to ensure product quality, timely product shipments, continuing cost effectiveness and divisional profitability.
  • Assign and prioritize manufacturing engineering projects and track progress towards completion by following published timelines to attain maximum effectiveness of manufacturing engineering efforts.
  • Drive continuous improvement of processes, quality and cost through maintaining profitability and competitiveness.
  • Determine capital equipment needs, write specification statements for equipment, and supervise installation and qualification of equipment to ensure equipment functions to meet specifications, and is delivered on time within cost requirements.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervises the staff in the Engineering department.


  • Excellent Lean Manufacturing knowledge - Kaizen, Kanban, 5S, 8D, Just in Time, TPS, Cost Improvements.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • This position also requires a working knowledge of TS systems, maintenance systems, purchasing systems.



  • BS degree in engineering, manufacturing engineering or operations management.
  • Minimum of 8 years working in a manufacturing management discipline.
