This new communications role in our Marketing department will help build messaging campaigns on the programs and strategies at the heart of the company’s success. You will collaborate with key business and project leaders to gather content and produce communications for print, digital and video formats to keep employees and customers informed, motivated and engaged. As a liaison to other internal business areas, you will lend support to help manage a variety of key initiatives and will help build and maintain a communications calendar and manage the company’s intranet site.


The ideal candidate will be an excellent writer and strong team player who understands positioning and can translate complex information info into creative, engaging communications for different audiences. You must be able to positively influence people in different roles and at all levels of the organization to ensure that projects are delivered on time and with a high degree of quality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

  • Research, schedule and write original content for a variety of internal and external audiences, including memos, newsletters, videos, customer letters, intranet, web and social media, speeches, and presentations.
  • Edit existing content to apply multiple nuances of a complex topic to different internal groups and customer segments, and ensure messaging is consistent across all groups.

  • Work with internal and external design resources to create visual elements, such as posters, banners, emails, videos, or other materials.

  • Develop message strategies to update customers on changes in our business, including sales coverage, service locations, delivery policies, technology system updates, and other issues, and manage those projects through completion with other internal and external sources.

  • Collaborate with individual business leaders and cross-functional teams to identify communications needs and assist with the creation, development and execution of content that builds confidence, understanding and loyalty.

  • Help build and maintain a communications calendar to ensure aligned, proactive and effective communications processes institution-wide.

  • Other duties may be assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Travel

Minimal travel is required.

Education
 

Bachelor’s degree (B.S./B.A.) or equivalent in communication, journalism, public relations, marketing, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a corporate or for-profit business environment handling internal or external communications, marketing communications or public relations.

 
Skills/Experience
  • Expert verbal and written communication skills; experience developing messaging strategies and writing for different communications channels and audiences required.

  • Proven ability to translate complex business information into engaging content.

  • Intermediate knowledge of various communications platforms and techniques, including video scripting, recording and editing, speechwriting, press releases, memos, letters, digital communications, and presentations.

  • An analytic thinker with strong business acumen with an understanding of marketing, branding and positioning. (intermediate)

  • Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to collaborate with colleagues in all functions and at all levels of the company.

  • Ability to positively influence others to ensure that projects are delivered on time and with a high degree of quality.

  • Must be able to adapt and thrive in a dynamic environment, managing multiple projects and priorities.

  • Strong interview and listening skills; ability to extract key messages from non-communicators.

  • Excellent computer skills, including the Microsoft Office suite, experience with email marketing platforms, project planning software, social media and blog platforms, SharePoint and content management software preferred.

  • Knowledge of AP Style.
